Delete your owy account

Last updated 19 October 2026

This page is for owy (OutWithYou), the dating app by Out With You, Inc.

The quickest way: in the app

  1. Open owy and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Scroll down and tap Delete account.
  3. Tap Delete account again to confirm.

Your account is deleted straight away. Deleting the app from your phone doesn't delete your account.

If you can't use the app

Email privacy@outwithyou.com with the subject "Delete my owy account", and include:

To make sure the request comes from the account's owner, we'll text a one-time code to that number, and you reply to our email with the code. We'll then delete the account within 7 days and email you when it's done.

If you no longer have that number, tell us in your email. We'll ask you for a few details only the account's owner would know, such as the birthday on the account and roughly when you joined. We won't ask for ID documents.

What we delete

Everything tied to you, including:

What the people you matched with see: their match with you ends without a message, and a date you'd agreed that hasn't started yet is cancelled, telling them only that you had to cancel.

What we keep, and for how long

WhatHow longWhy
Reports you made about other people2 years from the report, without your identityTo deal with repeat problems, and to answer legal requests
Reports other people made about you, and what we did about them2 years from the report, without a link to youThe same
If we removed you from owy: your mobile number, first name and the reason. Once your account is deleted, only a scrambled copy of the number, and the reason3 years from the removalTo keep you from signing up again
If you blocked or reported someone, or someone blocked or reported you: a scrambled copy of your mobile number, with the other member's account and whether it was a block or a report3 years from the deletionSo that if your number signs up again, those blocks come back at once
Copies in our hosting provider's backupsUp to 7 days, then overwrittenRecovering from failures
Anything the law requires us to keep, or that an authority asks us to keepAs long as the law or the authority requiresLegal duties

Nothing else is kept, except anonymous counts: if you came to owy through a partner's link, you're still counted in that partner's totals, with nothing that leads back to you, and owy's weekly totals and learned weights, which are numbers about many people together, with no names or IDs.
