owy Community Guidelines
Last updated 11 October 2026
owy works when people show up as themselves and treat each other well, in the app and on the date. These guidelines are part of our Terms of Use. They apply to your profile, your chats, your stories on the feed, and how you behave when you meet someone from owy.
Be real
- Use your own first name, your real birthday, and recent photos that are clearly you.
- One account per person. Don't pretend to be someone else, and don't make an account for anyone else.
Be kind
- Be polite, even when you're not interested. Unmatching is fine; insults aren't.
- No comments on people's bodies, and no shaming of any kind.
- "No" and silence both mean no. Don't keep messaging someone who has stopped replying.
Consent and respect on the date
- Any physical contact needs a clear yes, every time, and a yes can be taken back at any moment.
- Never pressure anyone to drink, to go somewhere else, or to stay longer than they want to.
- Meet at the place in your plan, and don't turn up anywhere your date hasn't agreed to.
- Don't film, photograph or record your date without their permission.
No harassment, threats or hate
- No harassment or sexual harassment, threats, intimidation or stalking, in the app or anywhere else.
- No hate against anyone for their race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
- No content that shows or praises violence.
No sexual content or nudity
- No nudity or sexual content in photos, prompts, chats or stories.
- No sexual messages, and no asking for sexual favours or for photos.
- No offering or asking for paid companionship or sex.
Adults only
- owy is only for people aged 18 and over.
- Anything that involves or sexualises anyone under 18 means immediate removal from owy and a report to the police. Our Child Safety Standards (outwithyou.com/child-safety) explain more.
- If you think someone on owy is under 18, report them.
No scams, selling or spam
- Never ask for money, gifts, loans, cryptocurrency or investments, and never send money to someone you met on owy.
- No selling, advertising, recruiting or promoting other services, accounts or websites.
- No bots, fake accounts or copy-and-paste messages.
Keep other people's private information private
- Don't share anyone's phone number, address, workplace, school, social media handles, photos or messages without their permission. That includes screenshots of chats.
- Never share or threaten to share intimate images of anyone.
- Stories on the feed are up to 500 characters of text, with no photos, and must not identify anyone. Don't name your date, and leave out workplaces, schools, handles, and details that point to one person. Our team reads every story before it's published, doesn't approve any that break these rules, and takes down a live story that turns out to break them. We never edit a story: we publish it as written, or not at all.
Respect the law, and the places you go
- Don't use owy for anything illegal.
- Follow each venue's rules, and treat their staff with respect.
What happens when someone breaks these rules
- Our team reviews every report, and aims to do so within 24 hours.
- Depending on what happened, we may remove content, warn someone, end a match, limit their account, or remove them from owy for good.
- Some things mean removal on the first offence: threats or violence, anything involving anyone under 18, sharing intimate images, scams, and serious harassment or stalking.
- Where someone may be in danger, or a law may have been broken, we may tell the police or other authorities.
- The person you report is never told who reported them.
How to report
- In the app: open the match or chat and choose "Report {name}" from its menu. Reporting also blocks them and ends the match, so you won't be matched again. On the feed, choose More, then "Report this story". You won't see that story, or any other story by the same author, again.
- By email: safety@outwithyou.com, whether or not you're on owy. Tell us what happened, when, and the person's first name.
- Online harms: if someone on owy has shared intimate images of you, shared images of child abuse, shared your personal details to harass you (doxxing), harassed you (including sexual harassment), or stalked you, send us an online harm notice at safety@outwithyou.com. Anyone can send one, whether or not they're on owy. Tell us who you are, what happened, where on owy, and when, and attach anything that shows it. We'll reply within 24 hours. If our response isn't adequate, you can also go to Singapore's Online Safety Commission.
- If you're in danger, call the police on 999, or an ambulance on 995, before anything else.
